Are you an Ant or a Grasshopper?

Everyone knows the children’s story about the ant and the grasshopper.

  • The ant stays busy, looking towards the future.
  • The ant makes sure things are in place for the unknown.
  • The ant knows the meaning of organization.
  • The ant leads a productive existence.
  • The grasshopper lives true to its name, hopping around, living in the moment, frolicking through life without a care in the world. La La La! Life is good.
  • Carpe Diem!! Whoo Hoo!!! It’s happy fun time and that isn’t going to change.

Then it happens.
Hard times come.
Poor, Poor grasshopper.

The grasshopper is paralyzed with fear and panic. The grasshopper has no provisions in place to sustain him during the trying times. The grasshopper frolics no more.

Meanwhile, the ant barely notices the hard times. In fact, if it wasn’t for the grasshopper freaking out at its doorstep, the ant may have not even realized the hard times had arrived. Planning. Organization. Looking ahead. Being productive.

Yep, the ant knows what it’s all about. But do you?

One of the ant’s strongest assets is their participation in a team. Their army. Their family. An ant is not a lone entity. An ant is a part of a bigger unit. A unit that gets results. One unit working together for the better good of everyone involved with each individual doing what it does best; the results being so much more than one ant could ever accomplish alone.

The long lived, tried and true methods of an ant’s existence can teach us a valuable lesson for our own future. Plan. Organize. Look ahead. Be Productive. Good advice that can carry any individual or business into the future. Learn from others. Teach. Work together. Value your importance and the importance of others. Be part of a society that grows and prospers together.

Meanwhile, the grasshopper stands alone. Which one are you?
