Reflect on Your Business & Think Big!

We’re half-way through the year (can you believe it!) and now is the perfect time to take a hard look at your business to see how you’re doing. Are you on track to meet your goals? Do you have plans in place to ensure you have a steady income stream? Is your marketing working? Does your website need an overhaul?

I’ve spent the week working with clients on this very task and we’ve put in place some great strategies! Here are some top tips you can use to improve your business performance.

1) Analyze your marketing metrics – if you aren’t tracking your marketing – then why bother marketing at all? There are plenty of metric tools for every type of marketing you do, from Google Analytics to monitor your website, to social media metrics to check your Facebook & Twitter effectiveness, to measuring the reach of your direct mail or email campaigns. A virtual assistant can prepare charts and graphs and a summary of all of your metrics to help you quickly and easily review the success of your marketing campaigns and make decisions on what changes you need to improve your marketing strategy. Consider working with an internet marketing specialist to help you make sense of your internet metrics and offer you ways to improve your marketing.

2) More Marketing! Use your metrics, and ramp up your marketing. Start incorporating customer testimonials, publicizing customer satisfaction reports, sending out regular newsletters or ezines, using social networking, and work with a PR expert who can advise you how to leverage PR strategies for FREE marketing.

3) Website tune-up – Take a look at every page on your website, check each link, all of the copy, add new graphics, think of ways to make your site more interactive and give your site a fresh look. Consider working with a website designer to give you tips on how to improve your  website to drive more traffic and more sales.

4) Time for a sale? Do you have any products or services that just aren’t selling right now? Perhaps it’s time to discontinue that item and offer some BIG discounts to get immediate cash flow. Consider developing new products/services and offer them for a limited time at a big discount. You should also start planning for a Fall promotion and your holiday sales. Your VA can help you create product coupons and send promotional emails to spread the word about these fresh products and sales.  To get some great exposure, work with a professional writer to compose your press releases and write articles to promote your products with flair.

5) Check out the competition –It’s important to always keep abreast of what the competition is up to in order to respond quickly and get out in front of them. Your VA can do the research and make this a quarterly task so you are always one step ahead.

6) Team performance check-up – Evaluate how your team is working together and their overall performance. How is the communication? Do you need to add more team members? Make sure you have the right people working on the right tasks and work with a project manager to supervise and motivate your team so you can focus on sales.
