What is Virtual?

As a manager at a Virtual Assistant firm, this is what I get asked over and over again. My family still doesn’t understand what I do for a living, even though I’ve been doing it for well over a year. I try to explain; I manage a team of Virtual Assistants all across the continent, who in turn work for a huge number of clients all around the world. (More about this subject next week.)

How does that work?

Good question. And one I have a hard time explaining to a generation that has vivid memories of Neil Armstrong landing on the moon.

The world of Virtual is still relatively new, but more and more I see evidence of its increasing acceptance in all areas. Just today I was perusing my Yahoo home page and came across an article about a new Top Ten duet sung by two artists who have never even met. Yet their song is in the Top Ten hit list.

One of my clients gives, and takes, singing lessons via Skype. I have several customers that hold conferences through teleseminar programs. At Contemporary VA we hold weekly trainings and monthly meetings through a Webinar program. All of this is done virtually.

Virtual is what’s IN

It’s the new green way of working. No trips to and from the office. No trips to pick up your dry cleaning for the next week. No running around to get all of your errands done after work hours or during your lunch hour. No worrying about missing the awards ceremony at your kid’s school. Or who’s turn it is to stay home with a sick child. And best of all? No traffic!

We all talk about work-life balance, but the Virtual Assistants here LIVE it. And since we do? We can easily help our clients live it too. How? By taking away those unpleasant, time consuming tasks. We do it every day for every customer.

I recently acquired my own Virtual Assistant. I love it! Some new idea pops into my head. I hit her up on IM (instant message for the Neil Armstrong generation) and ask her to do A, B, and C. And it’s done. How cool is that?

I don’t have to keep track of lists. I don’t have to worry about updating reporting and databases. I don’t have to worry if I forgot something. She keeps track of it all.

Wouldn’t it be nice not to worry?

If your answer is yes, then drop into our virtual world and see what we can do for you. And while you’re there, swing by my office and say HI!
