How to Communicate – Affiliate Style!

Building your affiliate program has no doubt been a labor of love and we here at ContemporaryVA understand that all too well! Now that you’ve built that program and have started to advertise it, it’s time to think about the next step…

Affiliate Communications

Once you’ve started accumulating your affiliates you can’t just stop there – it’s time to step out of the proverbial shell and start talking! Affiliates join programs so that they can make money and support the products they believe in, so why not encourage them to do so? Here are some fantastic suggestions on how you can break those sometimes awkward barriers that prevent you from getting to know your members:

Weekly E-Mails & Updates

Encourage your affiliates to promote you by updating them weekly on what’s happening in your world. If you are a coach that specializes in sports, let them know what you’ve been up to, tell them about the ongoing programs that are most successful (but don’t forget to give them their personalized affiliate link!), or update them on what’s coming in the near future (limit the near future to the month ahead and don’t get carried away by telling them what’s coming six months down the line).

Affiliate Specific Newsletters

So how is this different from above? Well, an affiliate specific newsletter details and highlights what your most active affiliates are doing and this shows them that you APPRECIATE their hard work. Make a newsletter that really goes into detail about who your affiliate is, how they are supporting you, and how they are generating passive income simply by using their own techniques. In this newsletter you may also want to include tips and tricks on how to promote your programs and give them specific information on the demographics of your business as they evolve. Encourage your affiliates to e-mail you or your affiliate coordinator (and if you don’t have one of these, ContemporaryVA can help with one of their wildly talented affiliate specialists!) and let you know what type of assistance they need.

Social Media

Social Media – two words I know that you love. The key here is to get involved, don’t just sit around expecting affiliates to talk to you. It’s time to add them to Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Use your time to connect with your affiliates and thank them for promoting you by sending out short messages of support. Not only that, make sure you keep up to date with what they’re doing so that it’s not just a one way street with no left or right turns. Most affiliates want mutual promotion and respect so give just a little bit and get a lot in return.

Lastly but not least, remember that ContemporaryVA has some of the most skilled affiliate coordinators and managers available today. We can help you with everything from researching the best affiliate programs for you to complete setup and assistance.
