Delegate, Focus, and GROW Your Business

How Trello Can Help Your Organize Your Business

There are so many new innovations out there that it can be hard to keep up with all the tools that are available. One of these newer tools is Trello, a collaboration tool that can help keep your business or even home organized. Trello uses a cloud-based system to allow you to organize projects, tasks and priorities as well as share them with others in real time.

It’s All In The Cards

Every platform has its own niche. Just like Pinterest has its pins, Trello has its cards. The idea is to create cards to action items on your to-do list. Each virtual card has a front and back, giving you a quick overview on the front and detailed information attached to the back. Neat features that can be added when creating these cards include:

  • Add checklists. Create checklists for each task or project and include them on the back of each card. Check off steps as you go, keeping you on track. There is even a progress meter that gauges how close you are to completing a task.
  • Add attachments. You can attached photos and other graphics to the back of each card, keeping all the items you need for the task in one place. Also add any relevant documents or files that pertain to the task.
  • Add labels. You can label, categorize and filter your cards, making them easy to find and use.
  • Add deadlines. Make sure you are meeting your deadlines on all tasks by adding the due dates to the front of the cards. The cards even change color as the deadlines approach, giving you a heads up.

Collaborate With Trello Boards

Trello can be used personally to stay organized but is also the ultimate tool to use to keep members on a team project on task. You can create boards for projects where members can be invited to participate in real time. This gives a live view of where a project is at, including:

  • What team members are working on
  • What has been completed
  • Documents and attachments can be viewed and shared on the board
  • All comments and changes show in real time

This allows team members to collaborate more effectively regardless of whether they work at the same location or across the world. It keeps everyone informed without needing to clog up email inboxes sending documents and comments to everyone involved in the project. You can add your virtual assistant to projects or ‘boards’ that they are working on so that it is even easier to keep track of the project’s progress.

One more great thing about Trello is that the basic service is free! They also have a business platform that is more elaborate with more administrative controls for a small monthly or yearly fee. This tool can be a great addition to your business, helping you to keep organized and communicate effectively with your team.

Thanks for the article on Trello. This app is truly useful, especially when you’re working with others. Eliminates the hassle of trying to track everything with email.

I’m a huge Trello fan, lots of boards. Whenever I start working with a client, I create a board for them, so we can work together easily. The iPhone and iPad apps are great too.
