How Effective Is Your Blog?

One of the more compelling ways to add interesting content to your business website is through blog posts. It can increase traffic, bolster customer relations and add value to your business’ website. However, many sites have blogs that would be better titled “blahs”. There is rarely anything new or interesting and too many sales pitches to make them worth reading. Your blog can be a great asset, if you are using it your advantage.

Components Of An Effective Blog

Blog pages can be a great way to connect and humanize your business and your website. It is a venue to offer helpful information, new ideas and even address customer issues. While the rest of your website may be more about your services, products and company, the blog can be more personal and even humorous. Not only does it give you a chance to talk directly to your customers, it can also be a great way to improve your SEO efforts.

  • Content. Yes, we have all heard it before – “Content is king.” It would be redundant to say it again, if it were not so true. Blog posts should be all about content. What would interest your customers? Not just about your company, but in general. Give them helpful tips, debunk industry myths and make your blog worth reading.
  • Frequency. If you are not putting new information on your blog at least weekly, it is unlikely anyone is paying attention, not your customers, and certainly not the search engines. Add new content often. Don’t have time? That is what a Virtual Assistant is for!
  • Be creative. Images and videos are a great way to make your blog pop. If social media sites have taught us anything, it is that people love visuals. Find new and intriguing images to make your blog “pinteresting”!
  • Link it. Links to other websites and resources are great ways to give your customers valuable information while increasing your SEO. Make sure you use credible sources; government and education sites are always great links.
