Does Your Website Need A Tune-Up?

Is your website outdated, with the same tired design and content? Is it easy accessible from mobile devices? If your website has not been updated recently, you may be missing out on opportunities to connect with your customers and gain new ones. What was acceptable in web design just a few years ago has quickly become obsolete. To maximize your digital impact, it may be time for a website tune-up or even a complete makeover of your site.

Signs That Your Website Needs A Tune-Up

There are plenty of business owners that wish that a website was not even necessary for their company; however, the digital age is here to stay and your website is a direct reflection on your business. If you have not invested in updating your website because you do not get that much traffic, you are looking at it in the wrong light. You are probably not getting that much traffic because your website needs updating. Here are some signs that it is time to do a tune-up on your site:

  • Too much text. Older websites tend to have more text, with often too many different types of fonts. You want content that is easy to read, not too wordy and emphasized by images and video.
  • Navigation. Is it easy to navigate your site? Are you positive that all your links still work? Nothing will make a new visitor leave faster than links that are not functioning or pages labeled that they are under construction.
  • Static, stale images. Do you have the same static images on your site? Are they outdated, such as staff photos, product images, etc? Video clips and new photos are important to both the look and SEO of your website.
  • Search engine. It is a sad state of affairs when you can type in your business name on Google and, even then, your website does not show up on the first page. This is a clear indication it is time to get a tune-up, most likely a full redesign, of your website.
  • Mobility. If your website was designed before smartphones became the norm and has not been updated since, you are missing out on reaching millions of potential visitors to your site. The number of mobile connected devices is expected to be higher than the world population in 2014. If your website is not mobile friendly, it is outdated.

If your website is outdated, you are not alone. There are many websites that have not progressed over the years. However, there is no time like the present to get your website up-to-date!
