Delegate, Focus, and GROW Your Business

Does Your Business Logo Need A New Look?

Branding is important regardless of the size of your business. Your website, business cards, social media pages and signage should all reflect the image and message that you want your customers to remember. A large part of that starts with something as simple as your logo, which represents your business in almost every aspect of marketing. If your logo and other imagery are outdated, maybe it is time to give your business a branding makeover.

What’s In A Logo?

Your company’s logo is the image that should identify and define your business. It is actually one of the most important marketing elements you have, tying all your efforts together with one graphic representation. Think of the major brands in the marketplace today. Their logos define them, whether you are thinking of the golden arches, a bitten apple or four squares in primary colors.

Unfortunately, many first logos are not well thought out; many are too intricate or detailed, or just the opposite, too plain. While it may have done its purpose, many companies should consider rebranding their business with a more professional logo once they begin to grow. Some elements that a good logo should have include:

  • The best logos are those that are simple yet provocative. The Nike swoosh is a great example of a simple, yet timeless logo.
  • While you most likely will have colors in your logo, it should be versatile enough to be recognized whether it is colored or in black and white.
  • You want a logo that is distinctly yours, not imitating another brand.
  • Stay away from trends or time-dated images for your logo. You want something that will be just as effective 10 or 20 years from now as it is today.

Once you have a new logo, it should be represented in every aspect of your marketing. Update all your printed materials, signs and web content with your new logo. Try to keep excess imagery away from your logo; it should stand out on its own without competing against other images.
