Looking For An Online Backup Service?

If you do not have an online backup service or are not happy with your current provider, there are plenty of companies competing for your business. Online backup has become a big business, protecting everything from family photos to tax documentation for businesses. There are several factors to consider when it comes to choosing one of these services, including their pricing structure, storage capacity and how easy their service is to use.

Unlimited Storage Services

If what you need is capacity, you will want to choose a service that offer large or unlimited storage for your business. One thing you do need to be careful of is what the charge is per computer. Most people have at least two computers that will need backup, more if you have employee computers to cover. Consider these services:

  • BackBlaze offers unlimited storage at a per computer rate
  • CrashPlan has unlimited plans for up to 10 computers for one low rate
  • SOS has unlimited plans for single computers and family plans with up to five computers
  • Carbonite is one of the better-known backup services, which offers unlimited plans plus business cloud services.

Free Online Storage Services

If you do not need a large or unlimited storage capacity and want an inexpensive or free backup service, there are several to choose from. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for, so with free services you will have very limited storage. However, it is all that many people need.

  • Mozy offers a free plan under their MozyHome plan that gives customers up to 2GB of storage for no cost.
  • Bitcasa also has a free storage plan with even more storage, 5 GB, with an option to get more with referrals.
  • SpiderOak has a free plan with up to 2 GB, with the option to add more storage on at increments of 100 GB.

Choosing An Online Backup Service

Depending on how computer friendly you are, certain online backup services may be easier to use. Carbonite and BackBlaze have received great reviews for being easy-to-use while other services such as CrashPlan are known for their excellent features. It all depends on what is most important to you. Your Virtual Assistant can help you research the different plans to help you find the right plan for you, then help you get your new account setup and backing up your data.
