Creating Your Digital Marketing Plan for 2015

In the last decade, the need to become active in digital marketing for all sizes of businesses has skyrocketed. Every year the digital portion of business’ marketing plans become larger, for some, encompassing all their marketing. Looking forward to 2015, now is the time to put your digital marketing plan in place.

Evaluating Your Current Digital Marketing

Before planning for 2015, you need to take a close look at how your digital marketing fared in 2014. What platforms and campaigns worked the best and what is not giving you a good ROI? Often in digital marketing, it is not only money, but also time spent that must be considered. Before looking ahead, consider these components of your current digital marketing:

  • Social media. Which platforms are performing the best? Most businesses involved in social media have FaceBook and Twitter profiles. Is it time to expand into other areas? Are your competitors on Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ or other medias? You may be missing opportunities to connect with your customers that your competitors are using to lure those customers away.
  • Pay-per-click. Look closely at your paid digital marketing plans such as PPC or banner ads. Look at your analytics to determine which are getting the best ROI and which need to be eliminated.
  • Blogs. Are you adding enough new content to your blog and contributing to other blogs? If not, you may be missing out on securing new traffic and creating interest in your business and website.

Your 2015 Digital Marketing Plan

Once you evaluate how your current digital marketing is performing, you can begin to plan and strategize for 2015. It may be time to move more of your overall marketing budget to digital strategies that may have a higher ROI than other efforts. Look at what needs to be removed, what needs to be expanded and make sure to include some new ways to reach a boarder audience through your digital marketing.
