Instagram – Should Your Business Be Using It?

These days every teenager is using Instagram to capture life’s moments. But as a small business owner, you can harness the power of this social media to increase your customer base. It’s easy to get started by following the steps on Instagram’s webpage where there’s a whole section devoted to businesses.

Find Customers

Did you know that you can discover who’s using Instagram to take photos at your business just by taking a photo at your store and adding a location before sharing it? Then simply tap the location name that appears in blue text above your snapshot to see all the photos that have been tagged with that location. If you make a mistake, it’s easy to edit or add the location of a previously posted pic. Adding a photo to your photo map and naming your location will help your followers be able to view the exact location where the photo was taken, hopefully increasing your business traffic and your revenue. As a small business owner, you can also add a snapshot to your photo map without naming your location and followers will be able to see your location when you uploaded the photo.

Get the Word Out

A picture is worth a thousand words. Instagram makes it simple to get the word out about your business and products with the PR information available on its website. Tips to help you prepare your own press release, complete with Do’s and Don’ts, are available, too. Instagram’s business blog has helpful resources for solopreneurs. Finally, take advantage of the hashtag craze by hosting a photo campaign around a particular theme or product that you offer. Too busy to do the writing or monitor your Instagram page? A Virtual Assistant with PR experience could be the solution to your time crunch.

Social Media Sharing

By using Instagram for your business you can also share brand photos on a Facebook page that you manage, reaching even more potential customers. Another exciting way to tap into new client markets is by sharing and connecting through video on your Instagram page. If you already have a Facebook business page, let your followers know you’re now on Instagram. Always on the go? No worries–you can link Instagram to your Facebook page from your smartphone.
