5 Tips to Increase Productivity in the New Year

As we begin 2017 full of hope and possibilities, intelligent business owners and entrepreneurs are setting goals to increase productivity (and profit) in the New Year. Suggestions pour from every blog post and news journal, ranging from the mundane to the radical. While we have nothing against radical thinking in business, we can often benefit most from simple steps that consume little effort or money.

Take note of these 5 tips to increase productivity in the New Year:

  1. Use Lists – “If I don’t write it down, then it never will happen.” Have you said that before? Lists enable us to get a visual idea of our tasks, and allow for prioritizing systematic steps to labor through them one by one.
  2. Involve Your Smartphone – You didn’t spend all that money for a smartphone just to talk, text, and check social media. Use the smart features to help you become more productive. Record ideas in notes to be retrieved later, use apps to watch over your budget or workflow, set task timers to spread efforts over a multitude of jobs each day. If there’s an app for some aspect of your business (and chances are there is) make your smartphone an integral tool for productivity.
  3. Utilize a Digital Calendar – Carry your calendar everywhere you go in your pocket – on your smartphone. Record meetings, set reminders, and schedule tasks al in a digital format that can be accessed from anywhere. Even set priorities for each event on the day’s calendar and tick them off when completed from any location.
  4. Outsource to a VAVirtual Assistants allow off-site handling of a multitude of tasks, from the mundane to the professional, allowing you to focus on your strengths to leverage productivity. If you’re already relying on digital tools such as calendars, apps, and smartphones, the next logical step is an administrative professional who connects to you digitally to perform vital yet time-consuming tasks.
  5. Celebrate Your Successes – Getting things done in a faster and more efficient way is worth celebrating! Always take time to congratulate yourself on finding new, effective tools that take your game to the next level.

Seriously, tinker with these ideas and investigate just how productive you can become as you integrate each one into your daily routines. Experiment and discover what works for your unique situation. Success is defined uniquely to each individual; and increased productivity will look differently to you than to someone else. The bottom line is finding and using whatever adds significantly to your bottom line.
