Delegate, Focus, and GROW Your Business

How to Know It’s Time to Hire a Virtual Assistant

It seems like many of us are constantly overworked, overtired, and just simply don’t have enough time to enjoy the little things (like enjoying dinner at a reasonable hour, attending your kid’s baseball game, or just spending a couple of hours binging Netflix on the couch).

When work becomes too much, you should consider hiring a virtual assistant to lend a hand with some of the work and help you get back to living your life on your terms. Here are a few signs it might be time to hire a virtual assistant.

You are Working Until Way Past Dinnertime

Does your family routinely get onto you that you’re never on time for the dinner table? Are you regularly eating take out at your desk for dinner instead of taking the time to sit down and relax?

Think about what you’re doing with that time instead of sitting down and eating a proper meal: Are you putting in the work to grow your business, or is it more of a catch-up time? Are you spending that time answering emails, returning phone calls that are low priority, or scheduling a few social media posts for your business?

It may be due time for a virtual assistant when you are falling into a pattern of not taking time for yourself.

You’re Getting Bogged Down with Administrative Tasks

When you first start your business it’s expected that you are going to more of a hands-on approach to administrative tasks like emails, phone calls, and scheduling. However, as your business grows, this just isn’t sustainable.

Once you get to a certain point in your business, you really need to step back and evaluate to ensure that you aren’t putting in too much time for administrative tasks that could easily be handed off to someone else. If you are spending more than 15-20% of your time to accomplish these administrative tasks, you are doing your business (and your sanity!) a disservice. It might just be time to hire someone to take over the reigns of the administrative duties.

You are Just Plain Tired. All the Time.

Lastly, you know it might be time to hire a virtual assistant when you find that you are just plain overworked and exhausted all the time from your job or your business. If you are regularly working well over 40 hours a week and feel like you can barely get your head above water, it might be time for you to hire someone who can not only help you with outstanding tasks, but also help you grow and improve your business.

Your time is invaluable. It’s important to be able to have a healthy work-life balance, and hiring a virtual assistant can help you achieve that and more!
