5 Ways to Upgrade Your Website

When was the last time you upgrade your website? While you don’t need to change your website design completely, it is bound to need updates. For many people, your website will be their first interaction with your company. It can have a bigger impact on whether they become a customer or client than any other factor. Here are five ways to consider updating and improving your website to make the best first, second and ongoing impressions on your customers.

  1. Check all links. Do all the tabs and links on your website work correctly? A poorly functioning website is a sure way to create a poor impression. Links can become broken and need to be reworked – periodically have all links and tabs checked for function on your site.
  2. Ordering ease. How easy is it to buy or contact the correct people through your website? Have someone not familiar with your website try to contact you or order something for a dry run. It may seem simple to you, but that doesn’t mean everyone will find it easy to navigate.
  3. Update all information. Outdated pricing or other information is misleading. Make sure you keep up with adding and removing products, services and other information as needed on your website. Make sure you provide enough information for all service pages without going overboard – web pages that are too long are unlikely to be read.
  4. Design overhaul. Does the style and design of your website match the persona you are trying to create for your brand? If you are trying to project a professional, modern or classic style, make sure your website matches your ideal brand.
  5. SEO rankings. When someone searches for your product or service in your area, where does your website show up? Is it on the first page of businesses? If your SEO efforts have stalled, it may be time to do a completely new website with fresh content, a blog page and other SEO tactics put in place. You also want to make sure your website is mobile friendly for your smartphone and tablet users.

Almost every business should have a website – but a poorly designed or outdated website can do your business more harm than good.
