How Often Should You Post on Social Media for Your Business?

You may be aware that social media is a crucial marketing strategy that you should be participating in, but do you really know the best strategies to implement beyond just having an online presence?

For example, how often should you be posting on social media for your business? Is there an exact formula or should you just guess? What types of things should you post when you do an update?

Here’s a quick guide to how often you should post on social media for your business and some tips on what kinds of content your customers want to see (and what they don’t want to see).

So Really, How Often Should You Post?

According to Hubspot, the social media marketing experts, how much you should post depends on how many followers you have. For example, if your page has over 10,000 followers then you’ll likely get more clicks if you post once a day (but no more than two times per day). If you have less than 10,000 followers on social media, it’s more advantageous to post less often (only posting about five times a month).

There’s no exact formula to how much you should post, but you want to post enough to where your customers don’t forget you exist, but not so much that you annoy them with constant updates. Finding a happy medium is generally a good idea.

Nowadays, social media platforms offer businesses at least some free analytics from their posts and you should definitely take a look at those to learn a little bit more about how effective your posts are.

What to Post

Now that you have a general idea of how often you should post, you need to ensure that every post you’re making really counts. What we mean by this is that you should never simply post just to post. You should always be promoting, always be talking about what’s coming up in your business, and never just post something nonsensical or super personal that your customers wouldn’t care about.

For example, a post that says “How is everyone’s day going?” might get a few responses, but it doesn’t really say anything about your business, promote any specials or services, and doesn’t really do anything for your brand.
