Should I Write an eBook?

Owning a small business makes you an expert at something. Yes—you are the expert. Whether it’s grooming dogs or building houses or creating a marketing strategy for a company, you are an expert at whatever it is that you’re doing.

Being an expert means that you should share some of your knowledge with those who are, well, less knowledgeable. One of the best ways to do this is to write an eBook and make it available to your customers or any potential new clients.

You might not have ever considered writing anything before but writing an eBook can be a very valuable marketing tool—and writing a book is quite an accomplishment in itself.

So, should you write an eBook? Here are a couple of reasons why you should.

If you’ve been working in your field for a long time and owned a successful business, you are more than qualified to write an eBook for the benefit of others. You likely have a lot of knowledge and expertise on your subject, whether it’s tuning a piano, fixing computers, or developing software.

Check out the books that are out there in your field. Do you find yourself wishing that there was a book on a particular topic? You might just be the person to fill that gap.

Use Your eBook to Generate New Client Interest

A new client might be on the verge of saying yes to your products or services, but if you add in a free eBook or if they happen to find your book while browsing titles, then that may just help seal the deal.

One great marketing tool that eBook authors use is to have their book available for a free download on your website, but in order to download it the potential new client will have to input their email address. Now you have a new contact that you can reach out to and offer your products and services.
