How to Save Time Every Week

When you’re a small business owner, you always have a lot to do. Hiring a virtual assistant is always a good affordable way to get tasks done that don’t need your personal attention. Read this for more info about virtual assistants. How else do you find enough time in each day to get everything at work and at home done?

Time Optimization

You can’t clone yourself, but you can take a good look at how you spend your time each day. Here are some tips on how to free up a few hours each week, and perhaps even reclaim a few hours each day:

  • Keep priority to-do lists – Keep a pad of paper next to you throughout the day to quickly add tasks that need to be done as they come up. Keep them in order of priority so you have a clear idea of what needs to be done next without having to think too hard. At the end of the day organize your workspace with your list and other materials set up to start fresh the next morning. Do a review of your schedule at the end of the week to adjust further and plan for the next week, as well.
  • Don’t put emails off – When emails stack up and multiple threads grow, it can be tough to address everything during a busy day. Going through your email first thing in the morning is always a good idea. Develop the habit of checking email throughout the day, so they never get away from you. At the end of the day, make sure everything has at least been opened. Print out emails that you don’t want to forget but cannot act on right away and put them with your to-do list for the next morning.
  • Create a uniform to wear each day – Your wardrobe should incorporate a few regular interchangeable items that make up a comfortable look that’s appropriate for your office or meetings. Put the next day’s selections out before you go to bed to save time having to try on or think through what to wear before work each day.
  • Digital training – Many business owners and officers take classes to help them stay current with their industry or to build skills. Opt for online training that you can do at home or at work to maximize on those cumulative wasted minutes or hours of driving and walking to a brick and mortar campus.
  • Audio Books – There are many tasks you do throughout the day both at home and at work which leave you mental space to listen. Doing dishes, laundry or driving times can be used to listen to audiobooks for training or relaxation purposes.
